Faith Filled Friday: BAD Day

July 3, 2021

by Connie Terpack July 2, 2021

For the past two weeks I’ve been having a hard time with hip pain and trouble walking. I finally saw the doctor today. She thought I had sciatica and did some x-rays. Lying on a hard table and having to put my left leg down straight caused a lot of pain, like a 20 on the pain scale.

So how does this make for a Faith Filled Friday? I turned the word bad into an acronym: Belief and Devotion.

I trust God to help me deal with the pain and weakness. He has healed some of my medical problems for which I am very thankful. I believe in God even though I have never met him or seen him.

Belief is defined as acceptance of the truth or actuality of anything without certain proof; something held to be true or actual; trust in another person; confidence.

My belief in God fits under the third definition. I have trust in him and believe that he loves me. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I believe that Jesus forgave me of my sins when I asked him to at the young age of twelve. I believe that because I have Jesus in my heart now I will go to heaven some day.

Devotion is defined as strong attachment or affection, as to a person or cause; ardor or zeal in the performance of religious acts or duties; act of worship or prayer. I have always thought of it as being the time I spend time reading my Bible and talking to God. I do not always read my Bible every day, but I rarely skip a day where I have not talked to God. He may get tired of me since most of the time I am asking for something. Sometimes I will sing a hymn and other times I do nothing other than say praises to the Lord. I read somewhere that praising God boosts his spirit. I have no idea if that is true or not, but who doesn’t feel better after getting a sincere compliment?

Bible verses for:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Chronicles 20:20c Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

2 Thessalonians 2:13, 14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 119:38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

Leviticus 27:28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possessions, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the Lord.

A few extra verses:

Psalm 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

Psalm 118:1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all sins.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Ephesians 2:8,9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

1 John 4: 7,8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
