Some Verses that Help Me

January 30, 2021

Faith Filled Friday, January 29, 2021

Since I missed Friday again, I thought I would keep this simple and share with you some verses that have helped me a lot. There are many verses that I find helpful, but I will not post them all at once!

1. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

I can’t see Christ, but I feel him in my heart. Is seeing Him important? Not really. I’ll see Him in heaven. Now, I simply enjoy having his closeness and comfort.

2. Let all things be done decently and in order 1 Corinthians 14:40; and But by the grace of God I am what I am and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10

Those two verses go together. I have written about this before, but I will share again. When I first developed all my health problems I felt lost and confused. I did not understand why it was happening and I wanted answers. I prayed about it, but never got an answer. Then one morning I opened my Bible to the page these verses were on. My eyes landed on 15:10 and realized that was God’s answer. I wrote down the verse address so I would have it to read again. When I looked back at my Bible I was surprised to see I had written down the wrong address. That is where 14:40 comes into play. God was letting me know He had it under control.

3. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26

There have been plenty of times I felt a little lost about how to ask for what I wanted or needed. This verse help me to understand that the Holy Spirit explains it to God in ways I can’t.

4. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

This was the first verse I learned as a child and have recited it often over the years. It has always been a comfort to me when I remember how Jesus has never stopped loving me.

5. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1

Actually it just the first four words that give me pause – In the beginning God… That tells me God was here from the very start. He knows all about everything and will be there for me at the end of my life on earth.

Each of us has verses that speak to our hearts. You are welcome to share some of your favorites.
