A Funeral and A Snake Handling Preacher

I lost another dear friend and her funeral was today. She was 88 years old and had lost her husband a few years past. Ms Cooper was a dear person and loved by everyone. She had been a teacher and a preacher’s wife, as well as a mother of a son and daughter. It is a little funny that she was called Miss or Mrs. Cooper by so many people at church. I am not sure that I have ever heard her friends, even those of her age, call her by her first name Carolyn.

The pastor told an old story of how one day when he was out in his truck she called him and asked if he had a gun. He happened to have one with him, but was truly curious to know what she wanted to shoot. She explained that a snake scared her when she watering her plants and she wanted him to shoot it. He was only a few blocks away and headed on over. He used a shovel instead of his weapon. After that Ms Cooper called him her Snake Handling Preacher.

Mrs. Cooper’s daughter mentioned how much her mother was looking forward to going to heaven, but like so many of us she was in not hurry to get there. The Lord takes us when the time is right.

Do you know for certain that you will be going to heaven? Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and live into your heart today.

John 3:16, 17 lets us know that God loves us and why he sent his son: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world though him might be saved.

Romans 3:23 tells us: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

God tells us the penalty for our sin in Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus paid that penalty for us. Read Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:13 lets us know how simple it is: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Do not put off getting saved. We never know when our time on earth is done.
