Faith Filled Friday: Obedience

January 14, 2017

This is from a devotion book I’ve had for years. I like how this book is laid out and it has such a variety of subjects to discuss. Please keep my husband in your prayers. He’s been dizzy the past two days which is not normal for him – I’m the dizzy one in this family! ~ Connie

“…make a joyful noise before the Lord…”  Psalm 98:6

Good parents will teach their children very early in life to be obedient. It will defray a lot of heartache later in life if the child learns to comply with his parents’ wishes. When our children were small and we were visiting, we gave them instructions as to their behavior. When they followed them, we were so proud of them and usually rewarded them in some way.
God is like that. He is very interested in his children obeying. In fact, he prefers obedience above any other attribute. We find a great illustration of the above in 1 Samuel as Saul dealt with the Amalekites. He didn’t completely obey God and as a result his kingdom was taken away in favor of David. I wonder what would have happened had he done as God instructed? Don’t lose the blessings God may have in store for you by simple disobedience.

Principle of Prayer
Lord, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. Isaiah 26:16

Soul Winning and Missions Principle
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:24

Stewardship Principle
The way to recognize if the ‘love of money’ is creeping or storming its way into you life. Read Ecclesiastes 5:10, Hebrews 13:5-6; 1 Timothy 6:10; Luke 3:14

Leadership Principle
God chooses what we go though; we choose how we go through it.  John Maxwell
