Faith Filled Friday: Recipes for a Happy Life

December 9, 2016

Both recipes are from the cookbook, Magnolia Dining, A Collection of Treasured Recipes published by Magnolia Manor of Greenwood, a nursing home in Greenwood, SC. Copyright 2016. I volunteer at the nursing home to help the residents play Bingo. These recipes are by the staff, residents or their families. I don’t know if Ebony wrote both recipes or not; her name was after the last one. I plan to share some of the recipes as I try them. May you all have a truly blessed Christmas. ~ Connie

1. Recipe for a Happy Life

4 cups love                3 cups forgiveness
2 cups loyalty            1 cup friendship
4 quarts faith                5 gallons hope
2 heaping spoonfuls            1 barrel laughter

Take love and loyalty and mix them thoroughly with faith. Blend it with tenderness and forgiveness. Add friendship and hope. Sprinkle abundantly with laughter. Bake it with sunshine. Serve daily with generous helpings!

2. Recipe for Life

1 cup determination            2 cups self-awareness
1 cup courage            Dash of hope

Bake in your heart and sprinkle with faith. Store in your soul.

Other ingredients to include:
1 cup romance            3 tablespoons of trust
Pinch of humor            1 cup of respect
2 spoonfuls of joy            1/2 pound of sharing
1 pound of compatibility        Zest of tenderness

The most indispensable ingredient of all “homecooking” is the love with which you are cooking as it is a display of love for those for whom you cook!
